Blog Post 1: Learning about website UX Design and shaping the Octave Built website to better cater to our luxury home buyer client base
As an intern at Octave Built, I had the invaluable opportunity to delve into the world of website user experience and contribute to shaping the digital presence of a leading luxury home builder. Throughout my journey, I discovered the importance of catering to the needs and preferences of luxury home buyers through meticulous design, interactive features, and personalized attention.
My first step in understanding the customer profile of luxury home buyers was conducting a comprehensive competitor analysis. I examined the websites of our industry rivals, studying their copy, messaging, layout, and interactive elements. This research provided valuable insights into how our competitors were effectively targeting our shared audience.
Armed with this knowledge, I set out to create a mockup of the user experience (UX) and page layout using Figma. This allowed me to visualize the ideal website flow and design that would resonate with our luxury home buyers. Collaborating closely with our website developers, I provided them with the mockup, and they transformed it into stunning demo pages that captured the essence of elegance and sophistication.
To further sharpen my understanding of our luxury home buyer clients and the industry, I embarked on site visits to our construction sites. Accompanied by my manager, I delved into the intricate details of the home building process and immersed myself in the mindset of our discerning clients.
During these visits, I gained invaluable insights into the key performance indicators (KPIs) that our website needed to achieve. Luxury home buyers expect to find surface-level information readily available before even stepping into a consultation meeting. They want to explore our exquisite floor plans, discover the available lots, and understand our meticulous design selection process. The website needed to exude elegance, interactivity, and a touch of personalized attention, reflecting the commitment and quality that our clients expect from Octave Built.
I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn and contribute to Octave Built’s website development journey. This hands-on experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of user experience, luxury home buyer psychology, and the intricacies of the luxury home building industry.
